Easy elegance with Hemsmith

I’m really excited to share you this latest collaboration between Hemsmith and me. Hemsmith is NYC-based slow fashion brand, with a clear minimalistic aesthetic. All of their clothes are locally produced, where they choose to focus on quality and season-less collections. Hemsmith’s timeless, modern and durable approach immediately caught my eye. Really honoured to be working with their thoughtfully designed garments. Taking influences from the Scandinavian and Far Eastern style, I know I found the perfect every day basics. Think of Japanese silhouettes, layered styles, flowy lines an thick fabrics, making them strong statement pieces. The first look includes the Kitsan Kimono Jacket, paying homage to the classic kimono. This updated version is made from Indigo-dyed denim with an oversized fit. Which makes it the perfect layer piece for Spring, as it can be worn with almost everything. For the second look, I got to style the Rey Long Coat along with the matching Leigh Pleated Pants. Together they create some pretty easy elegance due to its flowy oversized layers, creating an architectural look. Scroll …

A weekend filled with art

Last weekend my boyfriend and I spent a night away in Rotterdam, staying in the always lovely STROOM hotel. You might recognise it from our previous visit a year ago (which you can read back over here). We came back to enjoy bits of Art Rotterdam, and visited the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum for the first time. We saw classic pieces from René Magritte, but also the much anticipated ‘Infinity Mirror Room’ from Yayoj Kusuma and impressive modern paintings from Tomas Rajlich. We were quite overwhelmed by the amount of art, rooms and collections, and stayed there for almost 3 hours. Can’t wait until they’re going to renovate next year. From what I’ve heard and read, it must be promising. The next day we went to Voorlinden for the second time. (Check my recap of our first visit over here). It felt like coming home again, I know how weird that may sound. But the museum is everything you can ask for: super spacious rooms, massive installations, collections from the best renowned artists like Richard …

Practice L O V E | Weekday

‘Practice Love’ is the message Weekday is about to spread with its newest LOVE Capsule & denim collection. This season they got inspired by the early nineties vibes – as a Nineties kid I can only approve! – translated into oversized fits, thick fabrics and high waisted jeans. I got the chance to explore the items a while ago, and was really feeling the faded LINE WOW BLUE jeans (yes, the name is already awesome). It’s a high waisted jeans with straight legs and a button fly for a vintage nod. To keep the blue vibes going strong, I styled it with the pastel blue top with a ‘It’s not enough to be compassionate, you must act’ embroidery. It’s in mirror writing, so you have to look into a mirror (or take a selfie) to read what it says. The collection exists of 5 tees, 3 hoodies and 2 pair of socks printed with texts as ‘Practice love’ ‘No silence’, and ‘Unlimited action’, and will be available from February 15th. Until that time, you can …

A modern Fall with Opus

The thing I like about this cold weather, is that you can go all out with the layer-game again. The look I’m wearing is from Opus, known for their minimal, clean and oversized silhouettes, with a feminine twist to it. Their pieces can easily be worn in different kind of layers, so that’s what I tried to do. Of course I had to choose some white and grey, including this soft pullover from a wool mix and a sportive jersey trouser. And this huge ass scarf, which is my life saver lately. As you might know already from my Instagram, I have a Shiba Inu pup since a few weeks, and walking Yoji around in this Fall weather is much better when the scarf is wrapped around my face haha. Unfortunately she likes to play with it as well, so I have to be careful… Anyway, see how I styled Opus’ pieces down below, and let me know your thoughts! Wearing | Opus sweater | Opus trousers | Opus scarf | Mango shirt | adidas …

Denim & Swooshes

Oh yes, the perfect combination: denim & swooshes. Tried to give the jacket, which is from Weekday’s latest men’s denim collection, a more sportive touch instead of the usual ‘casual’ thing, and I actually really like it. Especially with the velvet shirt underneath, for a more feminine look. At this moment I live in this jacket, which I use as a throw over on almost every Summer look. The nights are quite chilly over here, so this extra layer is def a lifesaver ;P. Scroll down for more looks and let me know what you think! PS: Like the watch? Head over to Daniel Wellington and use ‘CHLOEALYSHEA’ at check-out for 15% off! ‘Get Neutral With Me’ | UN-CLUTTERED x Gardrobe Store

It’s no secret I often shop in my boyfriend’s closet, or find myself new treasures at the mens department. Wearing what you want, without any restrictions. That’s what fashion really means to me. I can already hear some guys thinking, so I have to borrow my girlfriend’s skirts now as well? No, that’s not totally what I mean of course (but cheers if you do so anyway!). What I’m trying to get at, is completely blurring out the gender lines in fashion. And not only the part where we see unisex collections popping up all the time. But for gender as a subject to also be extended to in-store shopping experiences where traditional men and womens departments seem to blend or even disappear all together. No more awkward stares when I’m browsing at the traditional mens departments, or when I dive into a mens fitting room. But instead an open and welcoming vibe, a place where you can try whatever you like. One of those stores is Gardrobe Store, located in my hometown Eindhoven, at …

Cotton Candy

A huge yes to this ‘Cotton Candy’ collab by Onitusuka Tiger and female sneaker boutique Naked. Both brands united to create this fresh retake on the iconic vintage tennis shoe. Summer has now officially begun with the pastel pink stripes. See how I styled these sweet treats down below, including this cool boyfriend hoodie by GVNS (with the same cotton candy vibes all over!). A little shout out to them, as they’re not only a cool, upcoming female streetwear brand, but we also share our Indonesian roots. They’re from Bandung, the same city where my mom’s born.

Celebrating a decade of love in Lagos, Portugal

I’m very excited to share this visual diary of our trip to Lagos, Portugal, a few weeks ago. A special mini vacay, as my boy and I celebrated our tenth anniversary. Whoosh, a decade of love! After browsing for quite some time to find the perfect destination to celebrate this huge milestone, we stumbled upon hotel Casa Mãe on Instagram. We immediately fell in love with the clean aesthetics of the white building and serene rooms. When we saw it included a bath for your own, a triangle pool, delicious organic foods and its location close to the beaches, we decided to go for it. And wow, what a place! First up is this visual diary of all the sweet memories we made together. Lagos really mesmerised us. A lovely small town with picturesque houses, narrow roads and beautiful nature and scenery… and good food :). If you ever look for a not so touristy place in the Algarve, Lagos is your way to explore South Portugal like a local would. Enjoy!

How to style your jeans | three ways

Yep, that’s me. Wearing jeans. Three times! Somehow I almost never wear denim as I prefer wide, comfy and oversized trousers. But for once I decided to make some exceptions because every girl needs a pair of good jeans, right? I’m always struggling to find the perfect fit because I have legs for days. I know this is something people might get jaleous off, but believe me, it’s not always fun. Wether the denim is too short, or I can swim in it with the upper part being too loose for me. So yes, finding that perfect pair isn’t that easy for me. So when FIVEUNITS – a Danish jeans brand from Copenhagen – approached me for a fun collab, I serously had my doubts. Not because of the brand, but considering the denim drama I just described. Eventually I was convinced to give it a try, and guess what. I’m really glad I did! Why? The jeans I picked don’t only fit my personal style, but also my tall tall legs. After this huge …
